Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is not only a natural wonder — it’s where the very idea of national parks was born.

Long before Yellowstone became a destination on the map, Native American tribes lived, hunted, and traveled across this land for thousands of years. They knew its geysers, rivers, and wildlife long before explorers ever set foot here.

In the early 1800s, explorers began venturing into the region, returning with stories that seemed almost unbelievable: erupting geysers, boiling mud pots, colorful hot springs, and vast herds of wildlife. At first, many dismissed these tales as myths. But when official expeditions brought back photographs, paintings, and scientific reports in the late 19th century, the world began to realize just how extraordinary this place truly was.

On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone made history by becoming the first national park in the world, protected for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations. This bold decision laid the foundation for national parks across the globe.

Today, as you explore Yellowstone’s roads, trails, and wild backcountry, you’re not just visiting a park — you’re traveling through a living piece of history, where preservation, adventure, and raw nature come together in a way that changed how we protect our planet forever.
